An ideal stocking filler

Suffolk Tales 1 begins the series with two plays based on mysterious historical folktales of strange creatures from 12th century local legends, ‘The Wild Man of Orford’ and ‘The Green Children of Woolpit’. Actor Peter Davison narrates with dialogue written and performed in authentic local dialect.

Suffolk Tales 2 continues the theme with four rollicking traditional stories from East Anglia including ‘Tom Tit Tot’ (more fun than ‘Rumpelstiltskin’ but still featuring spinning) and ‘Cap o’Rushes’, an old tale reminiscent of ‘Cinderella’.

Ghost Stories 1 presents tales from Lincolnshire, Norfolk and Suffolk by authors M. R. James, Kevin Crossley-Holland and Shirley Bignell. Stories of haunted marshes, tragedy on the waterways, witchcraft trials and the occult, chillingly read by Peter Davison, make for compelling listening.

‘Talking Caribbean’ is a vibrant collection of thematic Caribbean poetry celebrating multicultural writing in an anthology aimed mainly at children but with wide ranging adult appeal. Performed by seven different voices, it showcases the Creole/ Patwa language, promotes poems with percussion and ends with two wonderful examples of Steelpan music.
